AYL Players of the Week - May 3rd, 2021

***Week of May 3rd, 2021***

Nominated by Boys 1/2 coaches Mike Jenkins, Jeff Long & Ian Medernach; “Carter is proof that good things do sometimes come in small packages, he’s a kindergartner who through his dedication and sheer effort has found himself a home at attack on the Classic Boys 1/2 team.  His tenacity and will to succeed make him a difference maker on the field and it shows as the Ashland boys beat Northborough/Southborough on Sunday with Carter registering 1 goal, 1 assist and 3 shots.  We’re excited to watch Carter grow and develop in AYL!”  Killer performance Carter!  Keep practicing and taking on those challenges – you’ve got great things ahead of you in AYL!

A big ‘shout out’ to Maive Musoke our AYL player of the week.  Maive comes to every practice with a smile, positive attitude and gives 100% effort!  This season Maive continues to take what she learns in practice to game days.  Often asking questions, making adjustments to her play and continuing to build her skills and lax IQ.  Maive is fearless while she’s playing defense and battles it out for the ground ball wins moving the ball out of the critical scoring area to midfield.  Keep up the great work Maive!

Summer Lax Camp Opportunities

"Practice?  We're talking about practice?!" - Allen Iverson

Yeah Allen, we're talking about practice and we're talking about summer camp!  If you're looking for something for your child to do this summer and want to continue the development of their lacrosse skills - consider a week at the Tri-Valley Lacrosse Camp in Hopkinton from July 19th-22th.

Run by current Hopkinton HS Coach, and former AHS alumni and coach, Dan Norton, TVLC is a four-day lax camp for 1st - 8th graders run at the Fruit Street Athletic Complex in Hopkinton.

We'd love to see a great Clocker turn out for this while also supporting a former Clocker!  Click the logo above for more details!

AYL Players of the Week - April 26th, 2021

***Week of April 26th, 2021***

Nominated by Girls 1/2 coaches Jon Sage, Pete Mahoney and TJ O’Brien; “Maeve is always playing hard start to finish.  She has got great defensive skills and good field/game awareness. She continues to improve every week and just brings more fun to the team!”  Way to go Maeve – congratulations on being our girls player of the week!

Nominated by Boys 5/6 coach, Jason MacDonald; “Noah is a brand-new player this season and is already an active contributor to the team.  He has an easy-going attitude that has enabled him to try out several different positions on the field.  Whether it has been handing him a long pole 2 minutes before his first game or asking him to step into goal without any formal training, he is always willing to help out and learn more about the sport.  This past weekend he offered to step into goal to allow our primary goalie a chance at another position.  He immediately made several great saves, including taking some off the chest and one off the knee that took him out of the game.  He later returned to the game at attack and scored his first goal ever.  It was a defining moment not just for Noah, but also for the team.  I am excited to see him continue to grow with the sport!”  Keep up the great work, Noah!

AYL Players of the Week - April 19th, 2021

***Week of April 19th, 2021***

Welcome to a new feature on the AYL website where every week we’ll feature one Boys’ and one Girls’ Player of the Week!  Players will be nominated by their coaches and chosen by the Board based not only on performance but on key AYL characteristics like sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and respect.  Good luck to all players and on to the nominations!

Nominated by Boys 3/4 coaches Scott Lawson and Jon Sage, Tristan is a brand-new 3rd grader on the team and outside of scoring a goal and having 5-6 incredible saves in the two games he played last week, Tristan shows great positional awareness, steps up for his team (first time playing goalie!) and showed dedication and passion by coming back into his game after getting a little dinged up – great competitive spirit, Tristan!  Keep up the great work – all of us at AYL are proud of you!
